Kibbutz Lotan is in the heart of the Arava Valley in the shadow of the red Edom Mountains. It's an ideal base for exploring the surrounding Eilot / Eilat region. The Eco-Projects began as a small desert organic garden, then expanded to building a migratory bird reserve and nature trail. The organic garden is a means to demonstrate how to grow vegetables and herbs, save energy and water consumption, create soil, nurture a co-operative spirit, and excite people so much they go home and start doing it [the home garden supplies organic vegetables for Lotan's internal consumption].
